Fretboard Practice

Whole Tone guitar scale

See the Whole Tone scale on a guitar fretboard, learn its notes and degrees, and practice it in any key.

What it is

A scale made only of whole steps: six notes and no half step, so no note pulls toward another. Dreamy, floating and unresolved.

How to use it

Play it over augmented chords and dominant 7♯5 chords. Used in jazz and film music for dreamy or strange moments. It is symmetric, so it has only two different versions.
