Phrygian guitar scale
See the Phrygian scale on a guitar fretboard, learn its notes and degrees, and practice it in any key.
What it is
A minor scale with a flat 2nd. The half step right above the root gives it a dark, tense, Spanish or metal sound.
How to use it
Play it over a minor chord that moves to a major chord a half step above (i to ♭II), as in flamenco, metal and film music. Lean on the ♭2 and come back to the root.
