Dorian guitar scale
See the Dorian scale on a guitar fretboard, learn its notes and degrees, and practice it in any key.
What it is
A minor scale with a natural 6th, which makes it brighter and more hopeful than natural minor. Cool, soulful and a little jazzy.
How to use it
Play it over minor 7 chords, especially one minor chord that lasts a long time (a vamp), as in funk, soul, jazz and rock. Its characteristic note is the natural 6th: lean on it.
